Carbon fiber infrared heating is the latest in sauna therapy technology. It is a very efficient and safe material that is reinventing the sauna therapy experience. Unlike traditional rock heated saunas, which must heat the surrounding air to temperatures ranging from 180° - 200° F to be effective, carbon fiber infrared heated saunas can run optimally at 130° - 150° F. The result is a much more comfortable, relaxing sauna session that will allow you to enjoy more time in the unit.
The major benefits of Carbon Fiber Infrared heaters come from the material itself as well as the Infrared heat that is emitted. Infrared heat is a dry heat that focuses its energy on the objects it encounters and does not heat the surrounding air. This is why it is effective at much lower temperatures. Traditional saunas heat the body with super heated moisture droplets that lose their effectiveness when they come in contact with the skin. On the contrary, Infrared heat penetrates deep into the body's core causing the body to heat faster and sweat nearly twice as much, with up to 80% of the heat being absorbed by the body. Furthermore, Infrared heat is much more efficient at heating objects, which means less energy spent and less time wasted heating the unit.
The other element, Carbon fiber, is a modern composite that is renowned for its ability to conduct heat. Studies have shown that it can be up to 98% effective at turning energy into infrared heat, which results in lower maintenance costs. Furthermore, the carbon fiber panels are flat and spread out over a large surface area. The entire surface area is heated producing an evenly distributed heat. Other heaters use metal or ceramic rods to heat their units. Since the rods need to concentrate the heat in a small area, they must run at higher temperatures to disperse and maintain the desired heat level. The concentrated heat can cause burns when it comes into contact with the skin, where as carbon fiber panels, although hot, are safe to touch. Carbon fiber heaters are so efficient and maintenance free that Gaia guarantees them for the life of the sauna. When making a decision on a sauna purchase, why not go with a heating technology that is cheaper to maintain, safer to operate, more comfortable and more beneficial than any other.
