Sauna thermometers are usually found in the roof of the units. This sometimes can distort the true reading. If you can move your thermometer to the middle of the unit, or where the bench level is, this will help you get a more accurate idea of what you are feeling. The problem is that heat rises. By placing the thermometer in the roof, you are getting the byproduct of a lot of hot air rising. Temperatures can be 5 -10 degrees hotter in the roof than in the floor of the unit, so try to make this adjustment. Thermometers are a critical element of all saunas because they give you the temperature of the unit. You want to make sure you understand and record temperatures you are comfortable with so you can increase or decrease the unit to comfortable levels. The more you use the sauna the more your body will acclimate to the increased temperatures. With regular use you will be able to increase the temperature as you go forward. |
